Using Extensions
Where the extensions will be displayed?
The extension application will be embedded inside Trimble Connect Web application and it will occupy the middle & right panel within the Project page and the extension menu will appear in the left panel along with other navigation.
Who can add, edit or remove extensions?
Only Project Administrators can make changes to project extensions. Once an extension is enabled inside of the project, it will be available to all project members.
Installing Custom Extensions
To add a custom extension
Open the project in Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the Settings › Extensions page.
Enter the extension (manifest) url in to the text field.
Click Add.
Your Custom Extension will be added as another menu item in the browser application.
Please note that if an extension was created/provided by another Trimble application, any bugs or support questions should be directed to that product.
Editing Extensions
To edit the extension (manifest) url:
Open the project in Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the Settings › Extensions page.
Click on the overflow (3 dot) button next to the extension you want to edit.
Click Edit extension.
A dialog will appear.Enter the extension (manifest) url into the text field.
Click Save.
Configuring Extensions
Depending on the extension and it's purpose, some extensions may have configuration pages that you may need to set up before you can use the extension (configuration pages are optional).
To edit the extension's configuration:
Open the project in Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the Settings › Extensions page.
If the extension has a configuration page, you will see a configuration/settings icon. Click the configuration button.
You will be taken to the extensions configuration page where you can make the needed changes.
Disabling Extensions
If your project is using an extension that you want to temporarily disable or hide from the side navigation, you can choose to disable it rather than removing. Disabled extensions will retain any data stored by the extension in the project.
To disable an extension:
Open the project in Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the Settings › Extensions page.
Click on the switch button to the left of the extension you want to disable.
Removing Extensions
If you no longer wish to use a custom extension, you can choose to remove it from your project.
Please note any data created or stored by the extension will be lost and cannot be recovered.
To remove the extension from the project:
Open the project in Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the Settings › Extensions page.
Click on the overflow (3 dot) button next to the extension you want to edit.
Click Remove extension.
A dialog will appear asking you to confirm if you really want to remove the extension. Click remove.
The extension will be removed from the project.
