Topic References
Reference Types
Topics support 3 reference types, and depending on the type of reference and your permissions, different functions will be available for each.
Project Files
Attached project files always point to the latest version of the file stored in the Connect Project.
Supported actions: View, Download, Locate in Explorer, Remove
Uploaded Files
Uploaded files are not visibility stored in the Connect Project. They do however support versions if you upload the same file.
Supported actions: View, Download, Remove
Links (URLs)
Hyperlinks items can be added to a Topic.
Supported actions: Open (in new tab), Remove
Add References
Add Project File References
To add project file references
Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the BCF Topics page.
Select the Topic you want to add a reference to.
Under the References section click the + button.
This opens the Add References Dialog, which displays the project File Explorer.
Select the desired file.
Click Add references.
Add Local File References
To add local file references
Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the BCF Topics page.
Select the Topic you want to add a reference to.
Under the References section click the + button.
This opens the Add References Dialog, which displays the project File Explorer.
Click the 2nd tab in the same dialog.
Drag and drop a file or click Browse to open the native File Explorer.
Click Add references.
Add Link References
To add link references
Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the BCF Topics page.
Select the Topic you want to add a reference to.
Under the References section click the + button.
This opens the Add References Dialog, which displays the project File Explorer.
Click the 3rd tab in the same dialog.
Add the desired link's display text.
Add the link's URL
URL must include https:// or http://Click Add attachment.
Downloading References
To download a file reference
Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the BCF Topics page.
Select the Topic you want to download the reference from.
Open the overflow menu for the desired file.
Click Download.
To download all file references
Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the BCF Topics page.
Select the Topic you want to download references from.
Open the overflow menu for the References section.
Click Download.
Removing References
CAUTION: Removing references cannot be undone.
To remove a reference
Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the BCF Topics page.
Select the Topic you want to remove the reference from.
Open the overflow menu for the desired reference.
Click Remove.
To remove all references
Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
Go to the BCF Topics page.
Select the Topic you want to remove references from.
Open the overflow menu for the References section.
Click Remove.
