Rename Files or Folders

In order to rename a file or folder there are a few rule to keep in mind:

  • The file cannot be checked out by another user

  • You must have full access to the folder or file

  • The file or folder cannot be the same name of a file or folder that is already existing in the same location.

  • The file or folder cannot contain a restricted character.

To rename a file or folder

  1. Open your project in Trimble Connect for Browser.

  2. Navigate to the Explorer page.

  3. Select a file or folder you want to rename.
    The
    detail panel will open on the right side.

  4. In the detail panel, click the Edit button shown next to the file or folder name.

  5. The panel will change to Edit Mode.

  6. Type in the new name.

  7. Click the Save button.

Edit File Attributes

Projects owned by accounts with a file attribute template will have file attributes that can be edited by all project users. File attributes are defined on the account level. Project ownership is determined by the license that has been applied to a project.

Prerequisites

These instructions assume that you have already have a project in Trimble Connect for Browser which has file attributes applied to it.

To edit file attributes

  1. Open your project in Trimble Connect for Browser.

  2. Navigate to the Explorer page.

  3. Select the file you want to edit.
    The detail panel opens on the right side.

  4. On the detail panel, click the Edit button shown next to the file name.

  5. The panel will change to Edit Mode.

  6. Edit the file attributes.

  7. Click the Save button.
